Wondering what Habitat for Humanity is about?

Habitat intends to:

  • demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • advocate on behalf of those in need of decent shelter
  • focus on shelter by building and renovating simple, decent, affordable houses
  • engage broad community through inclusive leadership and diverse partnerships
  • promote dignity through full partnership with Habitat homeowners and future home partners.
  • promote transformational and sustainable community development.

“Ending poverty housing is a matter of mercy or compassion. As we are so blessed, we are called to be a blessing. Ending poverty housing is a matter of justice. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live in a decent, affordable home. Ending poverty housing is a matter of humility. The universal experience of participants with Habitat and other such programs is that we receive more than we give.”                                                                                                     from Creating a Habitat for Humanity: No Hands But Yours, Jonathan T.M. Reckford
